Travel Swellness: Beauty tips for the jetsetter

20130313-215829.jpg

I’ve ‘fessed up about being unable to keep my well-manicured paws off of luxe hotel toiletries. So you can imagine how excited I am to learn about the Hyatt’s new upgraded amenities, including goodies from June Jacobs, Le Labo, KenetMD Skin Care and Aromapothecary. Keeping up ones beauty regimen is now easier (and you can even pack lighter since you can skip a few key toiletries in your carryon). More ways to travel pretty? The peeps at June Jacobs share these two beauty travel tips:

Keep your hands off your face
It’s never a good idea to pick at your face, but you especially want to keep your hands off when you’re on the road. Your skin is adjusting to your change of environment and schedule so it’ll take longer to repair itself.

Use an eye gel
Our bodies tend to retain water when we travel and this may cause under eye puffiness. Use an eye gel rather than a cream. A gel is lighter in texture so your makeup will apply more easily over it than a cream, and if your eye gel boasts caffeine, it’ll help reduce any redness by constricting blood vessels.

P.S. More improvements at Hyatt hotels: I love smoothies, but often am not in the mood for one only in the a.m. Now the Hyatt offers them and fresh-squeezed juices 24/7 (along with healthier and smaller-portioned food choices on the menu). As someone who’s needed dinner after trudging into my hotel room at 10:30PM after a long evening of work and the only choices have been heavy choices like fish n chips (okaaay, sometimes I DO want fish n chips at midnight!), I welcome these changes!

Travel Swellness: Trump Hotel Toronto’s chocolate lab

Trump Hotel chocolate lab

“I don’t want a cart loaded with chocolate rolled right into my hotel suite,” says no one.

Fingers crossed that this becomes a reality at the Trump Hotel in Toronto — they’re looking into making ordering chocolate from a cart much like this one a room service option.

To learn more about their chocolate lab, I took a sweet staycation and ate lots of chocolate. You can read more about their chocolate lab over in my post over on Travel + Escape.

Travel Swellness: Top hotel toiletries

top hotel toiletries

Don’t tell me you don’t take hotel toiletries. Doesn’t everyone? These pretty ones from Etro I pilfered from a recent stay at the new Four Seasons in Toronto. I can’t comment on how good the actual products are just yet, though, as they were too pretty to break open (I instead used the toiletries I’d packed in my overnight bag).

What else do I have in my hotel toiletries hoard? Check out my faves in my post on Travel + Escape!
